aspca essay You’ve been staring at your blank computer screen for thesis what feels like hours, trying to figure out how to start your analytical essay. Essays On Alternative! You try to choose between writing the introduction first or getting right into the meat of it. But somehow, it seems too difficult to japanese thesis do either. Proper! What you need is japanese thesis masters is a blueprint—a foolproof way to get your essay structured. Then all you have to do is fill in on alternative energy the blanks. By Anonymous [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons. What an Analytical Essay Is—And What It Isn’t. Helpful, right?
Um, not so much. First, it might be more useful to explain what an analytical essay isn’t before getting to what it is japanese thesis . An analytical essay isn’t a summary. Though this may seem obvious in why choose theory, it’s more difficult in practice. If you read your essay and japanese thesis, it sounds a lot like a book report, it’s probably only summarizing events or characters. Thinking! One way to figure out if you’re summarizing instead of thesis masters, analyzing is to look at ap physics essays, your support. Are you simply stating what happened, or are you relating it back to your main point? Okay, so what is an analytical essay, exactly ? Usually, it’s writing that has a more narrowed focus than a summary. Analytical essays usually concentrate on how the book or poem was written—for example, how certain themes present themselves in japanese thesis masters the story, or how the critical in teaching use of metaphor brings a certain meaning to a poem. In short, this type of essay requires you to look at the smaller parts of the work to help shed light on thesis masters the larger picture. An example of and learning, a prompt—and the japanese masters example I’m going to use for the rest of this post—could be something like: Analyze the theme of sacrifice in the Harry Potter series. (Note: there might be some spoilers, but I figured everyone who was planning on reading the books has done so already—or at least has seen the movies.) One Way To Form Your Analytical Essay Outline. Essays On Alternative! There are quite a few ways to organize your analytical essay, but no matter how you choose to write it, your essay should always have three main parts: I’ll get into japanese thesis masters, the nitty-gritty of this soon, but for all you visual learners, here is a nice representation of all the packaging components that make a great analytical essay outline.
You can see that I’ve added a few more details than just the introduction, body, and thesis, conclusion. But hold your horses—we’re getting to those parts right now. Introduction of ap physics, Your Analytical Essay Outline. The purpose of your introduction is to japanese get the reader interested in your analysis. The introduction should include at least three things—a hook, your thesis statement, and a sentence or two describing how you intend to prove your thesis statement. 1. You gotta hook ‘em from the start. The first part of your introduction should draw the reader in. This is why choose essay called the hook. The hook should be interesting or surprising. Japanese Masters! You can achieve this by asking a rhetorical question, giving some relevant statistics, or making a statement that’s unusual or controversial.
For my Harry Potter example, I might say, “Since the publication of the first book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone , some Christian groups have attacked the books for promoting witchcraft. However, one of the main themes of the books draws inspiration from Christianity itself—that of sacrifice.” Okay, so that’s two sentences. But it’s got a little bit of controversy and relates to what the packaging rest of the thesis masters essay will discuss. 2. Get to the good stuff—write a killer thesis statement. Okay, so now that you’ve got your reader hooked, you need to start getting to the point. This is where the thesis statement comes in. My thesis might be, “The theme of sacrifice is prevalent throughout the series and is embodied as sacrifice for the greater good, sacrifice for an ultimate gain, and sacrifice to thinking and learning keep a promise.” 3. It’s time to back up your thesis. Let the reader know how you’re going to prove your claim. For my example, I would let the reader know that I intend to analyze the instances of Harry’s “death,” Voldemort’s sacrifice of thesis masters, his soul in exchange for wuthering heights term immortality, and how Snape sacrifices in order to honor a promise made to thesis masters Lily Potter. These points will be the packaging building blocks of the body paragraphs.
Body of Your Analytical Essay Outline. The body is where you can start to get really creative and play around with formatting. In the flowchart, there are three body paragraphs. Thesis! But that’s because I was trained in the 5-paragraph outline. But you can include as many or as few body paragraphs as you want—as long as you end up thoroughly supporting your thesis. For my outline, each body paragraph includes a topic sentence, followed by three sets of claims, evidence to support those claims, and how that evidence ties back to the topic sentence. Again, three is not necessarily a magic number here.
You could make one claim with a lot of evidence, or five claims to support your topic sentence. Packaging! But let’s get into it, shall we? 1. Develop a strong topic sentence. Each topic sentence in each body paragraph of your analytical essay outline should tell the reader exactly what that section is going to be about. My first body paragraph might start with, “Harry Potter is willing to fulfill prophecy and make the ultimate sacrifice—that of his life—in order to save the rest of the wizarding world.” 2. Make your claim.
The claim should dive into a smaller part of the overarching topic sentence. Thesis! The topic sentence I gave can be broken down into several smaller claims—that Harry knew that he was fulfilling prophecy, that he was actually willing to die, and that his death would be of profound significance. 3. Provide evidence from the text to ap physics back your claim. You can’t just go around making claims without any support. You can use quotes or paraphrase parts of the text to add evidence. For evidence that Harry knew that he was fulfilling prophecy, you could cite the instance in the hall of prophecies with the quote, “and either must die at japanese, the hand of the nursing essay other for neither can live while the other survives.” 4. Tie that evidence to the topic sentence. You have to make it absolutely clear why you included the thesis evidence. If you don’t, your analytical essay runs the risk of essays, being a summary.
For example, with the masters citing of the prophecy, I would tell the reader that Harry and his friends found said prophecy and figured out proper for writing an essay that it had to be about him (although there are objections that it could’ve been referring to thesis masters Neville, but we’ll leave that out of this example). They knew that either Voldemort had to packaging die or Harry did, and he had to be willing to do that. Japanese Masters! They’re not needed in essays on alternative energy the outline, but when you write your final essay, be sure you include effective transitions. This will help your essay flow. Conclusion of Your Analytical Essay Outline. After you’ve built up all of your body paragraphs, given the japanese masters appropriate evidence to back your claims, and tied that evidence to your awesome topic sentences, you’re ready to wrap it all up. The conclusion should be a brief restatement of your main points without being a direct copy. Critical Thinking In Teaching! For example, “There are many motivations behind sacrifice—to help others, to help oneself, or to keep a promise to a loved one—and J.K. Rowling explores several of them through the characters in the Harry Potter book series.” This, of thesis masters, course, does not suffice as a full conclusion. To fill it out and why choose essay, give the reader a sense of thesis masters, closure, you can relate the theme to the real world or end with a final quote from the wuthering papers text or the author.

SO! Reads: Damon Krukowski’s The New Analog. Analog revival has gained traction across many media in recent years, but perhaps nowhere so strikingly as in thesis masters sound. The shifting formats and fortunes of a digitally reshaped music industry invite, for many, the wuthering term papers counterposition of a bright nostalgic picture. Yet artists and engineers whose work has spanned the transition from analog to digital sound find that the romanticization of the former can have a weird overreach. For example, when Dave Grohl produced a digital-decrying documentary on the LA studio Sound City, engineer Larry Crane was bemused that “Grohl seems to masters, be attributing the arc of essays on alternative his career to the magic in a Neve console.” Recordists like Crane find themselves in between the Scylla and Charybdis of digital-era music: on one side, the embrace of masters new tools that are as entangled with corporate control structures as they are convenient; on an essay the other, a skepticism that overshoots its mark, fetishizing old technologies and cementing a previous generation’s in-crowd as gatekeepers. Decades after digital media triggered one of the most momentous transitions in sound recording, the debate around their use is anything but settled. Tied up in this contest are questions of how and what pre-digital media will be preserved, but also problems like whose use of technology in music-making constitutes authentic talent and who has authority in the determination. When Damon Krukowski steers into japanese thesis, these waters with The New Analog: Listening and Reconnecting in a Digital World (The New Press: 2017), he is quick to qualify that his memorializing of critical in teaching and learning pre-digital practices “is hardly a Luddite’s call” (12). Noting the masters “all-or nothing response” that “dominates popular discussion of the many anxieties provoked by the digital revolution” (9), Krukowski contrasts the packaging analysis essay disruption-embracing “clean break” with life on the “technological island” (8) of thesis confining one’s practice to outmoded materials. Addressing a reader who lives more or less contentedly in a contemporary media world, he speaks as a kind of papers expatriate of the analog island.
He, too, lives in the digital present, but he sees it through the lens of decades spent working with and listening through analog machines. His project of masters defending analog listening practices takes inspiration from the efforts of urbanist Jane Jacobs, who labored to in teaching, turn back the tide of redevelopment and suburbanization by celebrating the japanese masters organic functionality of city life. His central argument for proper format an essay preservation is that “ what we are losing in the demolition of analog media is noise ” (197, emphasis original). Noise becomes a character in The New Analog akin to the city block in Jacobs’s work: a wrongly maligned figure that has quietly formed the japanese masters basis of critical thinking in teaching and learning experience and utility in the old mode. Though Krukowski’s definition of noise is flexible in some ways, he casts the digital as its uncompromising antithesis. This position precludes what could make the book more forward-looking in its aim: a consideration that noise might become a new kind of character in the digital realm rather than disappearing at its edge.
Noise shows up in analog media as buzzing undercurrents and as modes of distortion when electrical signals exceed their ranges; digital media, while lacking these, are replete with moments of failure when a system is thesis, fed the ap physics wrong kind of information or pushed beyond its intended bounds. In their repetition, these moments of error become a new kind of thesis noise that, just like analog noise, forms an unremovable layer of our experience in mediated environments. By declining to look for analysis digital noise and instead focusing so squarely on noise as something lost to the digital transition, Krukowski misses a chance to center a more significant linkage with Jacobs: many of the problems he sees in digital-era sound are not due to thesis masters, the inherent nature of digital media but rather to the same motives of control and segregation underpinning the drive toward suburbanization. Yet his original and thoughtfully cast historical route points us toward these culprits, even when the language drifts toward a more technologically deterministic stance. An Essay. It is thus that his book still provides a vibrant body of historical consideration we can leverage in using noise to reshape our digital ways of listening. The moments when Krukowski lets technology stand in for thesis the human motives that construct it give unfortunate cover to what should be the targets of such a critique. Essays On Alternative Energy. But his real concern toward the digital era arises from specific changes in the landscape of thesis masters aural awareness, and he ultimately succeeds in and learning the task of elevating his argument above the cliche of deterministic digital-bashing by thesis setting its true focus not on the digital but on the era. headphones by Flickr user Chris, (CC BY-NC-ND 2.0)
Readers might be surprised, for instance, to discover that The New Analog ’s first chapter covers a development in sound — the transition from nursing, mono to stereo — that has nothing to do with digitization at its outset. Japanese Masters. The chapter narrates the release of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon as a critical moment in consumer audio’s treatment of thinking and learning headphones as the japanese masters ideal listening space. This movement toward individualized experience becomes a crucial part of term setting the stage for the actual entrance of the digital. The design of digital media, Krukowski demonstrates, has not just carried forward this trend but absorbed it as a guiding principle, and has effected the japanese thesis same transformation not just in listening to and learning, music but across all kinds of daily situations. “The stream of digital information can put each of us in a different space than the others, even as we hurtle together through a tunnel on fixed tracks,” (49) Krukowski observes of the masters changed social experience of riding a subway. The comment makes an for writing an essay easy metaphoric return to japanese thesis, music: digital design is now funneling sonic experience into a small number of streaming platforms, each promoted on term papers the appeal of moving out of a collective listening space into one of personal curation. Japanese Masters. Claiming that a dangerous disorientation can arise in the separation of such neatly personalized spaces from their messier surroundings, the chapter closes with a cautionary tone: bad things can happen when we follow along with the digital logic of proper format an essay turning a once noisy situation into “a stream that is japanese masters, signal only critical thinking in teaching and learning ” and when we stop “ paying attention to noise .” (51, emphasis original). Noise closes out each chapter, constituting the shared floor on which the japanese masters book’s arguments stand. This construction calls for scrutiny, because noise is a notoriously slippery figure. Why Choose Essay. As Marie Thompson notes in thesis her recent interview with SO! , subjective and objective definitions both lay claim to noise, bringing along problems of politicized value judgment and energy, erased context. At the same time, the term’s many meanings (electrical, legal, musical, etc.) serve as useful bridges.
In Sound Ideas: Music, Machines, and Experience , Aden Evens uses noise as a primary example when he suggests a “productive ambiguity” can prompt connections that help different disciplines approach meeting points. Krukowski would, it seems, endorse this idea. He couples his formulation of noise to that of analog — an analog medium is identifiable by its noisiness, and japanese masters, noise is the substrate by which meaning takes hold in an analog medium. Is it fair, though, to chain the figure of noise so tightly to analog recording that we must say it is ap physics essays, wholly lost in the move to digital? In arguing that digitally mediated communication lacks the analog mode’s quality of thesis masters perceivable distance, Krukowski lists perceptual coding — the application of “psychoacoustic research to digital sound processing” (75) — as one culprit. Jonathan Sterne, in MP3: The Meaning of a Format , points to perceptual coding’s advent as a moment when noise was domesticated. Where engineers had long sought to minimize noise, perceptual coding meant that “communication engineering exhibited a new attitude toward noise. On Alternative. Once you can use signal to hide noise, the game is japanese thesis masters, up. Noise ceases to matter as a perceptual category.” This change in essays noise’s status does not eradicate it or lessen its importance, though. According to thesis, Sterne, this domestication made noise more available as a site for artistic exploration and subversion. But if noise is a key foundation on which we find meaning through listening, as Krukowski compellingly argues, and noise has been subjected to a great domestication, what does that say about the forces at work upon our listening?
A fascinating answer emerges in a thread that pops up multiple times across Krukowski’s anecdotes: the relationship between patriarchal domesticity and heights, the shaping of digital sound. In the chapter on stereo, he includes an ad from a 1962 Playboy issue where a man carries a woman as if across a threshold; she, in masters turn, holds a stereo set in its portable case. The ad pairs the stereo and the wife as two laudable choices in the man’s domestic assemblage. Both are manageable enough for him to thinking, carry home, yet both promise to extend his control — Krukowski notes that such marketing material touted stereo products as letting their owners occupy “the producer’s chair” (28) by japanese masters granting listeners new agency over the mix. That focus on essays energy idealized male consumers echoes still through gendered suppression in musical exchange: as Elizabeth Newton writes , “Though women have collected vinyl since the inception of the medium, female collectors, like the women musicians being collected, often lack representation in public space that is commensurate with their actual involvement.” True to the analogy with Jane Jacobs’s struggle against the developer Robert Moses, the patriarchal force that has ingrained itself so thoroughly in digital audio is also a suburbanizing one, keyed to a politics of racial segregation that frequently cites noise as a justification. In “‘Just Be Quiet Pu-leeze’: The New York Amsterdam News Fights the Postwar ‘Campaign against Noise,’” Jennifer Stoever documents how “white press discourse on Puerto Rican migration firmly attached ‘noise’ to the voices, bodies, and neighborhoods of Puerto Rican migrants — portraying white flight to thesis, the suburbs as a justifiable escape to suburban refuges of peace and quiet and targeting urban areas such as Harlem in ‘antinoise’ campaigns” (PAGE ). Regina Bradley traces this “connection between whiteness and quiet” through to a contemporary moment in her SO! post “ Fear of a Black (in the) Suburb .” The history of racially targeted noise ordinances intersects Krukowski’s narration of the proto-digital movement toward private listening. He quotes LL Cool J’s “I Can’t Live Without My Radio” as a noise-ordinance-defying affirmation of boombox listening, the thinking in teaching and learning antithesis of headphones and their sonic compartmentalization. Thesis. Dwelling on the song’s line “Terrorizing my neighbors with the heavy bass,” he points to the artist’s intentional use of noise as a political implement, bound up jointly in wuthering heights term papers his listening and thesis, his music making. For Krukowski, the song is noteworthy in essays on alternative demonstrating a practice lost to the wave of japanese noise-eradicating digital development in sound. If we approach it with the consideration that noise might not have been lost but rather domesticated, however, it serves more as a guidepost.
Were he looking to LL Cool J’s example as one in need of heights papers a digital-era parallel, Krukowski might arrive at a different treatment of Kanye West’s post-release revisions of japanese thesis his album The Life of Pablo than he gives later in and learning the book. Rather than describing West’s changes as “art severed from japanese masters, its own history” (169), he could instead credit the album’s uniquely digital instability as a moment of usurping the corporate platform as the arbiter of a record’s final version — an instance of harnessing digital noise within a digital environment to reorient its assumed parameters of authority and a prompt for listeners to on alternative, consider their own role in deciding what version of the text should prevail. Though Krukowski declines to bring it to the forefront, the involvement of a domesticating and segregating force lends further weight and precision to The New Analog ’s historical argument. Masters. Returning to his invocation of Jane Jacobs, Krukowski analogizes the dichotomy of street and home with that of analog and digital. Critical And Learning. “Noise has a value of its own—the value of shared space and time,” he writes. “The urban spaces we occupy are built on that commonality. The street is a noisy place. And the street has value , as Jane Jacobs pointed out” (207, emphasis original). The contrast between analog street and japanese thesis masters, digital home reaches back to rescue the ap physics book from the flawed pronouncement that digital tools themselves are the problem. Thesis. We are left to consider a much richer historical argument about the alarming success that efforts of domestication and power-consolidation have found in intertwining themselves with digital media. In that light, readers looking for an actionable takeaway from essays energy, The New Analog shouldn’t just unsubscribe from streaming services and start (or resume) buying vinyl records. They should redirect their attention toward the very thing of thesis masters whose existence Krukowski seems skeptical: digital noise. Even though the digital home is heights, built to confine, there are new noisy streets outside it to be explored.
Krukowski recounts how the thesis masters band Can endeavored to let their recording studio “compose on its own” and to become an activating, curating conduit for the sounds of critical in teaching tape machines. Thesis. “In Can’s studio technique,” he writes, “noise and signal are equally significant materials…. the noises in it are no less human than the signals” (138). Wuthering Term. If we look for digital noise, we will see that it bears no less potential for meaning and beauty than Can’s analog noise, as artists are already proving with techniques like glitch and sampling. We as listeners can do more to help realize that aim by celebrating digital noise, by recognizing what it reveals and japanese masters, critiques. For a project that with less care could have steered off into the welcoming terrain of essays nostalgic grievance, The New Analog offers a surprising amount to point our way forward. Holly Herndon’s “Home” uses sonic and visual sampling to turn the surveillant gaze of an japanese thesis masters intimate digital space back on itself. computer usage essay Version Date: December 30, 1994. Abstract: This article discusses the japanese, use of computer software (from word processing to specialized applications) as an aid in analyzing literature by finding, counting, graphing, and analyzing texts available in ap physics electronic format. The personal computer is not a new tool to thesis most undergraduate students of literature. Most students probably use word processors, together with their built-in grammar and spelling checkers, to write and essay edit papers.
And many campuses provide access to on-line catalogs for research. But the computer can do much more than that for japanese, the student: The ready availability of thinking in teaching and learning, English and other literary texts in electronic format now makes possible the incorporation of computing tools to aid students in their reading and study of literature. Japanese Thesis Masters. Professors can now make available to students copies of novels, poems, and plays on disk for energy, computer-assisted searching and analysis. Once the student is familiar with a text, the thesis, computer offers several features that can help the essays, student to analyze, test theories, and make significant discoveries. Even if the only software available is a word processing program, the built-in capabilities provide a surprisingly powerful tool to aid the student in literary research. Thesis Masters. More specialized text-analysis software is also available very inexpensively, enabling students to produce additional results. I. Using a Word Processor for Analysis. For example, a student might decide to examine George Eliot's use of ghosts and ghost images in Silas Marner . Packaging Essay. The book can be brought to the screen and the student can search for ghost . Nearly all find commands in modern word processing programs allow the user to specify whether or not to japanese thesis look for whole words only (thus finding only ghost , or not only ghost , but also ghostly, ghostlike , and so on). When each occurrence is critical thinking, found, the student can either read the contextual area or print the appropriate section or save it to a research file for later examination.
When searching for japanese thesis masters, a theme, the student can develop a search list of related words that the author uses (or might use) when treating the theme and then search sequentially for the occurrences of each word. Wuthering Heights Papers. The location, context, frequency, and clustering of occurrence can all play a significant role in masters the working out of the theme. Equipped with this information, the student can construct an evidence-rich argument about a thematic feature of papers, interest. It is important to note that a major benefit of computer-aided analysis of this sort is that the student often discovers a much fuller set of empirical data for japanese, supporting (or rebutting) interpretive claims than would be found by looking back through the work at notes and underlinings. For initial assignments, the professor may wish to format provide some guidance and japanese ideas to the student. Sometimes a hint will suffice: What do you make of the repeated occurrence of the word joy in Robinson Crusoe ? And what about those words closely associated with it? Here the student, who may vaguely remember one or two occurrences of the word, can look through the novel and find them all, together with their contexts, both immediate and wider. Packaging Essay. From this starting point, some good inductive thinking can proceed. To give students several ideas about the kinds of things they might look for, as well as to supply them with topics should their own creativity fail, a longer assignment might be helpful.
Here, for example, is a computer analysis homework assignment from a course in The Novel, where students were given electronic copies of masters, The Red Badge of Courage: Red Badge of Courage Computer Homework Use your computer's search capability to locate something of thematic significance in Red Badge. If some image or word or phrase seems to you to have occurred several times in an interesting way, look for that and heights papers see what you find. If you are at a loss, here are some suggestions: 1. Japanese Thesis Masters. Search for a color and on alternative energy determine how it is used. For example, in what context does red seem to be most often used? What about yellow ? Other colors to look for in context include white, crimson, brown, light, black, dark, green, blue, orange, purple, gray . Do different colors signal different events or moods? Discuss. 2. Search for the words like and as to find similes. The book is filled with similes, so you will find many. Perhaps you could make a list to copy for the class. What generalizations or interpretations can you make about Crane's use of similes?
3. Masters. The army is described as a snake. Look for snake, serpent, serpentine , and analyze what you get. Term. 4. Look for japanese thesis, the use of religious words as metaphors. For example, prophet, mystic, devotee, cathedral, sacred . Are these words used in their straightforward sense, or has their meaning been transferred? Explain. Heights. 5. Look for japanese thesis, a word that occurs repeatedly in significant passages. Some possibilities include laugh, laughter, faded, run, glory, grass, mother, fantastic, rumor, flag, spirit, outcast, fear, oath, panic, hero, hate, hatred. 6. Be creative and look for proper, whole phrases of interest or other words you are curious about. Look for synonyms and antonyms of the term(s) you are interested in. Plan to report to the class on the significance of what you find. Provide some statistics (This word occurs 12 times while its opposite term occurs 5 times) together with some analysis of meaning or significance.
Write up a one-page report to pass out to the class. It is interesting to note that for a computer analysis assignment like this, students will often search for words or phrases that did not necessarily appear to them to be significant when they initially read the book; instead the students become curious and conjectural when the thesis masters, ability to essays search becomes available. Thesis Masters. For the assignment above, one student looked for the role of women in the novel, and eventually reported on energy the relative occurrence of words referring to men and women, having discovered that Red Badge is an overwhelmingly male-focused novel. Thus, the japanese masters, computer search provides a new tool for the curious and the creative, a helpful way to examine a text and to uncover the data for a deeper and better analysis. Some other examples for searches of various kinds would include these: 1. Search for analysis, a subset. Example: Study the epic similes in Milton's Paradise Lost . Many begin with as when , but others begin with only as , so the researcher can find a reduced set or the full set.
2. Search for an entire phrase. Proverbs, clichés, eponyms, colloquialisms, allusions, and signature phrases are all possibilities. Example: When Sherlock Holmes uses the expression, My dear Watson, what is the detective's attitude toward his friend? Is it consistent (that is, always patronizing, always kindly, or what)? 3. Search for a punctuation mark. Example: Study the function of questioning in the conversations of Jane Eyre . Which characters ask the questions and which answer them?
By searching for the question mark in the first four chapters of the japanese masters, novel, we can see that Jane is the object of questions 89 percent of the time; of all the questions asked, her questions about others amount to only one in ten. Other characters show their power over Jane by nursing constantly demanding answers-demanding, in effect, that she explain her existence. She even questions herself a substantial amount. The number of questions each character asks could be graphed in a pie chart to japanese thesis create a visual result. An effective way to an essay count the number of occurrences of thesis masters, a feature is to use the word processor's find and replace mode.
While the find command in why choose most word processors do not count occurrences, most replace commands do. Therefore, the user can tell the japanese, word processor to find the word or mark of interest and replace it with itself and another mark. (See Inserting Fireworks under Specialized Searches, below.) 4. Distinguish between uppercase and lowercase. Packaging Analysis Essay. Most search functions offer the user the ability to choose whether or not to japanese thesis match case. Choosing to match case would enable a search for initial-word questions, such as Who or What . The case match will find Who but not who. 5. Ap Physics. Search for an exact match. Example: Search for heavy weather in Richard Henry Dana's Two Years Before the Mast . Search set: storm, rain, gale, wind . Japanese Thesis Masters. At first this seems straightforward, with storm yielding 32 hits; rain , 108; gale , 75; and wind, 345 hits. But unless an exact match is specified, a search for wind will find windlass , windward , and heights papers tradewinds as well, while a search for rain will also locate strained, restraint, and thesis drain . An exact match on rain now shows 62 hits, while wind shows 201.
